"A student comes to me with a spark of interest and it becomes a flame. I feed the flame and it becomes a fire. I feed the fire and it becomes a roaring blaze."
Ryan's passion in life is Judo and he trains with the British Judo Squad on a weekly basis. His
aim is to achieve the highest level of competitive success and continue
to learn and develop his skills, technique, strength, speed, power,
stamina, endurance and most importantly his mental strength in order to
improve at regional, national and international levels of Judo
competitions.
Ryan being Black Belt status will over the next few years
advance his current Dan grade level to an even higher calibre.
"My legs are like lead, I feel as though I have paced a million miles,
yet ive only walked a few. My throat is so dry I feel like I haven’t quenched my thirst in days. I feel
violently sick with anxiety and fear. As I make my way towards the
arena, the roar of the crowd gets louder and louder. My legs are now
trembling. This is my first major tournament and to say I am nervous
would be the biggest understatement of all time. The uncertainty of what
I will face out there frightens me to the very core of my body and
mind. I am trying to keep myself together. One question keeps edging
into the small part of my brain: What on earth are all the Judo fighters
going through if I feel like this when I have just came along to
watch. Judo – The Ultimate Gladiator Sport: Judoka – The Ultimate
Gladiator." Quote by Mr. X
Ryan
is quoted saying "Judo gives me discipline and respect for fellow
Judoka and non Judo fighters. Judo gives me inner peace and allows me
to channel my energy to my workplace and social life. I want to
continue my development both personally and most importantly pass on my
experience to my students for them to achieve reaching their goals too".
Ryan has always been a natural athlete in any sport he participated in.
National athletics coach David Walker was quoted in saying "Ryan was the most gifted athlete I have ever coached while at the same time the hardest and most focused trainer".
David Walker Continued in saying "Melanie Neef (Double British indoor 400m women's champion 1995 and 1996, taking over the titles from World, European and Olympic Athlete Sally Gunnell, who for 4 years herself had previously retained the title) found Ryan to be the perfect training partner due to his mental strength, physical athletic abilities and determination to be the best."
Ryan has gone through all the training he has with a mixture of trial and error but most importantly he has been fortunate to have trained with the best Judo fighters, athletes and associated international coaches.
Ryan has learned from the experience passed onto him by Britain's Elite qualified coaches in all the sports he has participated in.
He has always listened to his mentors and has taken away advice and information from each training session to help better himself as an individual sports competitor and also as a Personal Fitness and Judo coach.
Ryan found himself just as naturally teaching fitness as he did participating so the step from being Athlete to becoming a Personal Trainer has been a natural progression.
Ryan has taken on individuals from all levels of physical fitness from beginner to intermediate to advanced.
Ryan used whatever basic facility he had and over a period of time he maintained and improved upon a good regime and work in progress with each individual building success in student satisfaction.
He naturally has a talent for identifying people’s weaknesses and strengths and gently builds individual programmes for each student to improve as each week, months and years go by.
3 years ago Ryan successfully arranged with Hearts Football Club to assess the ability of a talented young footballer. This proved a success and the youngster was chosen to participate on weekly trial training sessions.
Ryan always tries to help people achieve something that maybe they doubted personally but with reassuring advice and guidance from him they can reach their goal.
